- 450g king prawns – peeled, head off, tail on
- sea salt and pepper – to taste
- 1/4 tsp chili powder
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 6-8 very thin slices of bacon
Place the raw prawns into a bowl and sprinkle with seasonings. Drizzle olive oil and fresh lemon juice and gently toss to coat.
Cut the bacon strips in half and wrap each prawn in one bacon half-slice. Insert a toothpick through the bacon to secure the wrap.
Arrange the prawn skewers in a single layer on the prepared pan. Roast the bacon wrapped prawns for 10-12 minutes, flipping it halfway.
Once the prawns are cooked, carefully remove the toothpicks and transfer it to a serving plate.

Tips and notes before cooking
How to prepare the bacon
Bacon slices should be really thin cut to cook at the same time as the prawns. If you can’t find very thin slices, normal ones will do but you’ll have to precook them first, and here’s how:
Place the bacon strips on a wire rack or tray and roast until they start shrinking, about 8 minutes. Make sure you don’t overcook or make them crispy. The bacon slices should still be flexible enough to wrap around the prawns.
Then let it cool, wrap the slices around the prawns and proceed with cooking in the oven.
